Don’t Let Him In by Elora Reed
Don’t Let Him In is the new novella from Elora Reed, which centres around a fateful night for our heroine, Tatum, whose trip to visit her boyfriend takes a turn for the worse.
Containing many psychological and Gothic tropes, the story is essentially one of betrayal, lost loves and acceptance, and isn’t that what makes some of the best Gothic tales? Whereas the pace is much faster, being only a short book, the narrative is rich, and the characters are well developed for the scope of the book. However, I did feel they underwent a sense of disservice with such an ending, leaving so many questions (I won’t spoil things for the reader), and left me feeling that if the book were longer, then many of these could have been answered and developed more, but on the whole, I enjoyed the story and the pace and look forward to reading more from the author.
