Welcome to The Gothic Revival

When I first started The Pilgrim magazine, way back in 2018, I never imagined anyone would ever read it, let alone create an award-winning magazine which lasted six years and helped over 50 new writers on their career path.  However, as with all things, time moved on, and so did I.  Covid and a changing environment, plus other external factors, led me on a new direction in both life and career.

I’ve always been a rambler, in walking and life in general, so it makes sense to me to encompass all my worldly passions into one place. I love exploring and discovering some nook or cranny in some obscure location, a wonderful experience. I do believe that discovery is something that makes us, as humans, tick, whether it’s reading a new book, discovering the name of a plant or finding a new location that you’ve never visited before, this is all discovery and really what The Gothic Revival is all about.

One of the things you’ll notice about The Gothic Revival is that this is designed to be a coffee table style publication; it’s not just a magazine, but something that we hope that you’ll keep with an electronic version always available.

So, apart from it having a fantastic design and sumptuous packaging, what else is there? Well, as with other publications, there will be numerous sections within. We aim to promote new writers and photographers; in fact, this is something of a passion of mine as an avid writer who knows how difficult it is to have work published. We’re very aware that breaking out into the wide world of writing and photography isn’t easy, and we hope this will be a useful stepping stone to help budding writers expand their portfolios.

Along with fascinating articles, we’re also keen to include Interviews in any field, history, poetry and writing from up-and-coming and established writers (fiction and non-fiction), photographers, music and lots of reviews. All this and so much more, remember a magazine can’t exist without contributors and readers, and we’ll consider all forms of ideas that work with the criteria of the magazine.

If this has whetted your appetite we are also constructing a new website which will contain other content not available in the magazine. We are hoping that submitted videos will play a part, along with links to competitions, links to back issues, in case you’ve somehow managed to miss a copy, and so much more!

If you’re interested in becoming part of The Gothic Revival. whether it be contributing work, stocking the magazine or advertising please get in touch at thegothicrevival1@gmail.com

So, we hope you enjoy this sample issue. Thank you for reading, and hope you enjoy what we’ve got planned for the future
